Spark.com Looks To Snag Rejected Online Daters

Beverly Hills-based online dating firm Spark.com is looking to take advantage of the flap over controversial dating site BeautifulPeople.com, which this week said it is kicking "fatties" off the site. Spark.com said this week that it will offer free subscriptions to anyone ousted from BeautifulPeople.com, which claims to only list "beautiful" people on its site. Spark.com said it will offer one month subscriptions to anyone who can produce a rejection notice from the other site. BeautifulPeople.com sparked widespread outrage Tuesday when it said it was kicking 5,000 members off its dating site, due to people posting pictures which showed them gaining pounds over the holidays--and after its founder specifically calling them "fatties." Spark also operates JDate.com, BlackSingles.com and ChristianMingle.com.
