Staccato, SK Telecom Partner On UWB Network

San Diego-based Staccato Communications and SK Telecom said today that they will deploy a network based on Ultra Wideband (UWB) mobile phone technology. SK Telecom will use Staccato's silicon to deliver mobile services globally. According to the firms, the services will initially be launched in Korea, and then rolled out worldwide to other operators. The firms also said that a Korean-based manufacturer of handsets will be the developer of new WiMedia UWB handsets for the service. Staccato develops silicon that supports high speed, simultaneous operation of wireless USB, WiNet, Bluetooth, and other wireless protocols.
