Startup Weekend Ventura County Winner Gets $10,000

Camarillo-based Semtech, which manufactures analog and mixed-sginal semiconductors, says the winner of the recent Startup Weekend Ventura County event, which was held in Camarillo last weekend, has been awarded $10,000 in seed funding. Semtech said the $10,000 in seed funding went to one of the teams, which competed at Rancho Campana High School, to create a new product in the areas of agriculture and medicine. The winning team created a product to make it easier to monitor a patient's workout routines and to help physical therapists make adjustments. Semtech helped to sponsor the event in part to expand awareness of its LoRa wireless networking technology, and was the technology sponsor; the $10,000 seed funding actually came from the City of Camarillo.
