Neven Vision Deploys At LAPD
Santa Monica-based Neven Vision, a developer of facial recognition software, has deployed its system with the Los Angeles Police Department. According to the company, its facial recognition software has been deployed in handheld form by the LAPD's Rampart Division gang division. The tool is being used for suspect identification. The company said that the system has been involved in more than 20 gang-related arrests in 2004. Neven Vision develops facial recognition software for handheld devices. The system in use by the LAPD uses Neven Vision software loaded onto a camera-enabled PocketPC or cell phone. The company is targeting the security market with its solutions.
