    Figure 8 Certifies ZigBee Platform

San Diego-based Figure 8 Wireless said yesterday that two of its platforms have been certified by the ZigBee Alliance. The company's software and firmware, combined with low power, low data rate RF ICs from ChipCon AS, enable wireless network monitoring for control networks. The platforms include Figure 8 software running on the Chipcon CC2420 and Freescale MC13192 802.15.4 RF chips. The interoperability testing ensures compatibility between solutions from ZigBee Alliance members, which include Honeywell, Freescale Semiconductor, Motorola, Samsung, Philip, Mitsubishi, and Ember. Figure 8 Wireless was acquired in January by ChipCon AS. Figure 8 was backed by Avalon Ventures, Cardinal Venture Capital, Freescale, and Viterbi Group.
