Impinj Inks RFID Deal With Texas Instruments

Newport Beach and Seattle-based fabless semiconductor firm Impinj and Texas Instruments said yesterday that the two companies have inked an agreement for Impinj to provide its RFID chips to TI's product line. TI will tap Impinj's Monza RFID Generation 2 chips for its RFID inlay and strap products. TI will use the chips for its manufacturing of RFID tags for use in consumer goods and supply chain applications. TI said that the agreement with Impinj will accelerate its customers transition to the next generation RFID standard. Impinj is developing RFID tag technology for licensing to semiconductor companies. Impinj is backed by ARCH Venture Partners, Madrona Venture Group, Mobius Venture Capital, Polaris Venture Partners and others.
