    Sun Buys SeeBeyond For $387M

Sun Microsystems and Monrovia-based SeeBeyond Technology said yesterday that Sun will buy SeeBeyond for $387M in cash, in a move expected to boost Sun's Java and Solaris offerings. According to the companies, SeeBeyond, a developer of integration tools for the enterprise IT market, will help expand Sun's offerings in the emerging area of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and the areas of development, deployment, and management of enterprise applications. The companies said that SeeBeyond had revenues of $167M over the last 12 months. The companies emphasized that the acquisition is focused on Web Services and business processes, and allowing Sun to tap into SeeBeyond's business integration capability. SeeBeyond's software allows companies to easily connect different, incompatible, and legacy IT systems together.
