Super League Gaming Adds $5M

Santa Monica-based Super League gaming, which lets video game fans compete against others on the big screen at movie theaters across the country, has raised $5M in a Series C funding, the company said this week. The funding came from Toba Capital and esports company aXiomatic. Super League takes over movie theaters, and allows game players to compete against each other for prizes. The company's biggest game series is Metropolis Madness, which is centered on Minecraft, and is aimed at 6-16 year old players. Toba Capital is the venture arm of Quest Software founder Vinny Smith; aXiomatic is the e-sports group led by Peter Guber and Ted Leonsis. Super League Gaming has also previously raised capital from SoftBank, Cinemark USA, and Quadrant Management, in prior rounds. More information »
