La Jolla-based Synthetic Genomics, which is using genomics to develop biofuels and other synthetic genomic technology, said Wednesday that it has named Joseph Mahler as its Chief Financial Officer. The firm, which is led by genomics pioneer J. Craig Venter, said that Mahler joins the firm from FuelCell Energy. Mahler has also served at Earthgro and Ernst & Young.
