Tapiture Gets $825K

How do you capture the interest of male users, and not only capture their eyeballs--but drive some e-commerce revenues? In the case of Tapiture, you create a Pinterest-inspired, visual, social discovery service which surfaces photos of men's fashion, food, motorcycles, funny videos, and more, and inspires those men to learn more about those products. Tapiture's site centers around a visual tableau of different products, photos, videos, and more, which can be browsed, voted up and down, and which users can interact with.

Tapiture, which is based in Venice, announced this morning that it has raised $825,000 in a new funding round, which will help it accelerate its existing traction, launch its e-commerce solution, and help drive development of new mobile apps. Central to its efforts is a new e-commerce effort surrounded around curators it is calling "Tastemakers", who will partner with merchants to create hosted, branded experiences on the site, allowing merchants to curate products for sale on the site. Tapiture said it will be using the new funds to expand its engineering team, and further development of its mobile apps.

Tapiture is led by John Ellis, and was founded by John and Leo Resig of Resignation Media. The firm spun out of Resignation Media in September of last year. The firm said the new funds come from un-named, angel investors.
