textPlus Goes Global With New Texting, Calling App

Marina Del Rey-based text messaging app develotextPlus, which is led by Scott Lahman, is going global, saying Thursday that it has launched a new free test messaging and calling app called Nextplus globally. According to textPlus, the new app allows users to send and receive low- to no-cost calls, texts and multimedia messages from any Wi-Fi-connected device. The company said it is looking to replace the need for traditional, carrier plans with its new app. The new app provides a unique phone number to users, which can be called or messaged by anyone, with or without the app, and the app works on iOS and Android.
