The Linkup Terminates Services
San Diego-based The Linkup, the latest incarnation of file storage site MediaMax/Streamload, said Wednesday that the firm will be closing its services, as of August 8th. According to The LinkUp, it will no longer accept any uploads or new accounts, it will no longer charge customers, and it will also delete all files stored on the service. The firm said in a posting on its web site that it was unable to "satisfactorily complete" the move of files from MediaMax to The LinkUP, so it has decided to shut down its service. MediaMax, which was formerly Streamload, offered online storage to users to backup, store, and access their digital media files; as Streamload, the firm had raised funding from Windward Ventures and the City of San Diego Emerging Technologies (EmTek).
