Thomson Ramps Up HD DVD, Blu-ray Disc Production

Thomson's Technicolor Home Entertainment Services business is ramping up its manufacturing and distribution of both HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc, the firm said Wednesday, and has installed new next-generation DVD replication lines at the company's Camarillo, California manufacturing plant. Thomson said that its Technicolor division now has three HD DVD and three Blu-ray Disc replication lines, along with mastering and testing equipment at its center in Camarillo. Thomson, which is one of the largest manufacturers and distributors of DVDs, said that it manufactured HD-DVDs for Universal Studios as part of the HD DVD launch, and will support Blu-ray disk production as part of its membership in the Blu-ray Disc Association.
