    Tivo, DIRECTV Extend Agreement

Tivo and DIRECTV said today that the two companies have extended their agreement to provide TiVo's digital video recorder service to DIRECTV subscribers for three years. Tivo and DIRECTV, which provides satellite broadcast services to consumers, said that the agreement allows existing DIRECTV TiVo subscribers to continue to receive the Tivo service, and also calls for the two firms to not assert patent rights against the other. DIRECTV has been developing its own line of digital video recorders, and has been pushing it subscribers to sign up for its own DVR service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
