    Toshiba Buys Panasonic HDD Design Center


    Toshiba's Irvine-based Toshiba America Information Systems said yesterday that it has acquired Panasonic Shikoku Electronics' U.S. hard disk drive design center. The center, which develops small form factor disk drives (HDDs) for the portable market, is based in Fremont. The center's 50 employees will support HDD development for Toshiba and its US-based customers. Terms were not disclosed.
