Total Immersion Applies Technology To Surgery

Los Angeles-based Total Immersion, the developer of augmented reality software tools, reports today that it has added Los Angeles-based Vantage Surgical Systems as a partner. According to Total Immersion, Vantage is looking to use its augmented reality systems as part of its advanced surgical visualization solutions. In particular, the firm said that it is looking at overlaying and tracking diagnostic data to any surgery using endoscopes or visual aids such as microscopes. The new partner is an unusual one for Total Immersion, which so far has mostly been active in marketing and promotional use of its augmented reality technology. Total Immersion's augmented reality technology combines a live, video feed wiht interactive graphics, allowing users to interact in real time with computer generated images.
