UberMedia Buys TweetDeck, Say Reports
Pasadena-based UberMedia, the Idealab startup which is amassing a suite of Twitter related client applications, has acquired Tweetdeck, the provider of a third party Twitter client, according to multiple reports. The firm has not yet formally announced the deal. UberMedia is reportedly paying $30M for Tweetdeck. UberMedia has been busy buying up Twitter related client software firms, so far buying client apps Mixx, UberTwitter, Echofon, and Twidroyd Twitter clients. UberMedia was known as PostUp until last month, and prior to that was known as TweetUp until August of 2010. The firm now appears to be focusing in on Twitter client software, shifting its model from an original provider of a service which allowed users to bid to increase the prominence of their tweets on searches.
