URB-E Gets $5M For Urban Delivery Network

Los Angeles-based URB-E, a startup developing a "last mile" urban delivery network based on containers and bicycles, has raised $5M in a Series A funding round, the company said today. According to the company, the funding was led by UBS Group. URB-E says it is developing a "containerized" delivery network in urban areas, focused on small container systems which are rolled on and off into parking spaces, and where the last mile is delivered via bicycle. The company said it already has over 1,800 containers moving over 100,000 packages in New York City. As part of the funding, the company said it has appointed Charles Jolley as its new CEO' Jolley is an investor in URB-E, and previously sold two companies--Ozlo and Strobe--to Facebook. He also spent time at Facebook and Apple.
