US SEARCH Acquired By Venture Capital Firm

Los Angeles-based US SEARCH, the consumer unit of Florida-based First Advantage, has been acquired by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Highland Capital Partners. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. First Advantage said that the sale would allow it to focus on its core business offerings. US SEARCH provides online people search services and background reports based on public records; the firm's information includes information like marriage and divorce records and criminal records. First Advantage was created in 2003 by the merger of US SEARCH and First American Corp's background screening operations in June of 2003.
