    ValueClick Gets CAN-SPAM Scrutiny


    Westlake Village-based ValueClick reported in an 8K filing with the SEC last week that the firm is being investigated by the FTC. The firm said in the company has received a "letter from the Federal Trade Commission stating that the FTC is conducting an inquiry to determine whether the Company's lead generation activities violate either the Federal Trade Commission Act or the CAN-SPAM Act." ValueClick said that the FTC is specifically investigating certain ValueClick websites which promise users a free gift to drive traffic to the websites. ValueClick said in the filing that it believes that it is compliant with all current state and federal regulations pertaining to its lead generation activities, and that it intends to fully cooperate with the FTC in connection with the inquiry.
