ViaSat Buys LonoCloud
Carslbad-based Viasat, which develops satellite and other wireless networking products and services, said Friday that it has acquired LonoCloud, a La Jolla-based startup developing cloud-based networking software for the distributed computing market. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. ViaSat said that Lonocloud is developing a cloud-based platform specifically aimed at the "Internet of Things", including a mesh algorithm for connecting together multiple servers. ViaSat said that it would add LonoCloud's team to its broadband group. LonoCloud was headed by longtime San Diego serial entrepreneur and angel investor Neil Senturia.
