    ViaSat Buys Video Equipment Provider


    Carlsbad-based ViaSat, a provider of satellite and wireless communications technology, has acquired El Cajon-based Enerdyne Technologies, a developer of video data link and digital video systems, the firm said today. The deal is worth $17M in cash and stock, plus $8.7M in earn out. Enerdyne provides video equipment for the defense and intelligence market, including for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. ViaSat said that the acquisition will allow it to expand its offerings into the Department of Defense. Enerdyne employes 53 people in El Cajon.
