Carlsbad-based satellite communications technology developer ViaSat claimed a win in court today, saying that a federal court judge has upheld a jury verdict against Space Systems/Loral. That earlier verdict found Space Systems/Loral had breached a contract with ViaSat, and infringed on its patents, and ordered Space Systems/Loral to pay $283M in damages to ViaSat. ViaSat said that its now has a hearing on August 26th on its request for a permanent injunction against SS/L for manufacturing and selling infringing satellite or satellite components.
