ViaSat, Eutelsat In European Broadband Joint Venture

Carlsbad-based ViaSat and European satellite provider ViaSat announced very early this morning that they have closed their partnering arrangement for a European broadband joint venture. The two said the partnership will expand Eutelsat's current wholesale broadband business, and create a new consumer retail service in Europe. The new joint venture will be headquartered in Lausanne, Switzerland. The new joint venture will be owned 51% by Eutelsat and 49% by ViaSat; ViaSat said it acquired the interest in the new venture for 132.5M Euros.
