ViaSat, Eutelsat In In-Flight Internet Deal In Europe

Carlsbad-based in-flight, satellite Internet provider ViaSat announced this morning that it has inked a deal with European satellite operator Eutelsat, where they will jointly provide services to the European airline carrier market. As part of the deal, ViaSat said that Finnair will equip its entire Airbus A320 fleet with ViaSat's high speed, wireless internet networking equipment, and EL AL Israel Airlines, which is currently in customer trials, expects to deploy its service by the end of 2016. Financial details of the wins were not announced. ViaSat said it will provide its in-flight Internet systems, but utilize Eutelsat's Ka-band broadband satellite for connectivity in Europe and the Mediterranean basic.
