ViewSonic Ships Accelerated LCD Monitor Line

Walnut-based ViewSonic announced a new line of accelerated LCD monitors today. The maker of video displays said that its new line of Xtreme LCDs offer 4 millisecond average video response time on 19-inch and 17-inch monitors. The response time is up from an average 30 to 35ms response time for current generation of fast-response displays. The company is targeting the new LCDs for gaming, DVD viewing, television, in addition to normal computer usage. As consumers have begun shifting to LCD-based flat panel displays, manufacturers have been pressed to provide better performance and the equivalent screen refresh rate as CRT-based displays. The faster response times mean that rates of up to 250 frames per second can be supported by the ViewSonic LCDs, a benefit particularly for motion video found in video games and digital entertainment.
