Camarillo-based semiconductor provider Vitesse is reporting a design win today, saying that FibroLAN is using its chips for a mobile backhaul product. Vitesse said that its Carrier Ethernet Switch Engine and quad-port, 1G PHYS are being used as part of an Ethernet Access Device (EAD) for the Metro Ethernet market. Financial impact of the win, and shipment volumes, were not announced. The chips are part of a new Carrier Ethernet, IEEE1588v2 products aimed at mobile backhaul and network IP Edge applications. FibroLAN is an Israeli firm developing products for the carrier, service provider, and mobile market.
