Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor (www.vitesse.com) has announced new optical components for Fibre Channel and Gigabit Ethernet. The company's new chipset are designed for use in multirate SFP (Single Formfactor Pluggable) modules, and support 1 Gbps, 2Gbps, and 4Gbps speeds in a two-chip solution. The company said that the new integrated chipset should save money and simplify the assembly process for SFP modules.
