Vitesse Ships Server Management Chip
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has shipped a new chip focused on server management. The company said today that it has unveiled a new integrated server basedboard management controller, targeted at computer server manufacturers. The new chip allows companies to design in remote server management features. Remote server management features are built into high end servers to allow administrators to manage PCs remotely, using LAN connections and KVM modules. According to Vitesse, the new chip is sampling now and will be in full production in late 2007, and will work with AMI and Avocent remote management software.
