VIZIO, Sony In Patent Settlement

Irvine-based HDTV firm VIZIO said late Wednesday that the firm has licensed its digital TV patent portfolio to Sony, resolving an ongoing patent dispute with the firm. Financial details of the licensing deal were not disclosed. Vizio said that Sony has become a licensee of its patent portfolio, and it has also become a licensee under Sony's color television patent portfolio. VIZIO is engaged in a number of patent infringement lawsuits against such firms as LG Electronics, Funai Electric, and others.
