VOCEL Gets Investment From Random House
San Diego-based mobile phone content provider VOCEL has received an investment from Random House Ventures LLC, the investment subsidiary of publishing giant Random House. Terms of the minority stake were not announced. VOCEL provides a service which provides periodic educational text messages to cell phones, and has a deal with The Princeton Review and Random House to deliver content on preparing for college to subscribers. Two other Random House imprints also announced agreements with VOCEL, including Living Language, a provider of self-study foreign language books; and Prima Games, a publisher of video game strategy guides.
