Western Digital Rolls Out Scale Out Storage

Irvine-based Western Digital has rolled out a new data storage product aimed at the scaling out cloud and enterprise market, the company said Tuesday. The company said it has released a new "plug-and-play" object storage system called the ActiveScale P100, intended to scale out capacity to the petabytes. The company said the system can scale from 720TB to 19PB of raw capacity, and is aimed at the life sciences, government/defense, and media and entertainment industry applications. The system starts at $0.22 per gigabyte.
