Pasadena-based X1 Discovery, the Idealab-backed electronic discovery firm split out from X1, said today that it has shipped its first product, X1 Social Discovery. The firm said its new product is specifically designed to address social media content, and collects Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin information for use as social media evidence for investigators. The company said its software is designed to collect "tens of thousands" of social media items per hour, and uses the X1 engine to allow users to search and find information. The firm spun out X1 Discovery earlier this month, headed by John Patzakis, former President of eDiscovery at X1. Patzakis and fellow execs include quite a number of former Guidance Software employees.
