    Xirrus Adds Wireless Shaping Technology

Westlake Village-based Xirrus, a provider of Wi-Fi arrays and access points, said yesterday that it is shipping new technology in its products that helps to shape RF coverage. The company said that the new technology helps to limit coverage of Wi-Fi networks for better security and performance. Xirrus said its RF shaping capability controls the transmit power and defer thresholds of each sector of its Wi-Fi array, which allows for better utilization and higher data rates. The technology also limits RF coverage and bleed, for example limiting coverage to inside a building for better security.
