    Xirrus Gets $26M


    Westlake Village-based Xirrus said Tuesday that it has closed on a Series C funding round worth $26M. The funding was led by Canaan Partners, and included prior investors U.S. Venture Partners, August Capital, QuestMark Partners, and founder Dirk Gates. According to Xirrus, the investment will be used for customer acquisition and international expansion. Xirrus develops Wi-Fi hardware, which the company is now targeting at for replacement of Ethernet workgroup switches. Xirrus develops Wi-Fi array hardware which combines switching capability with a collection of Wi-Fi access points. Eric Young of Canaan will join the firm's board as part of the funding.
