Yahoo Goes Tech
Yahoo's Santa Monica-based media group is going for the technology review and advice market, saying yesterday that it has launched Yahoo! Tech (tech.yahoo.com), a new web site focused on choosing and using technology. The new site goes squarely against CNET, which has a large presence in the technology review and advice space. Yahoo said that it will feature community product ratings and reviews, shopping and community features, and provide an anchor for advertisers in the technology space. Yahoo is tapping Consumer Reports, Mcgraw-Hill Professional, and Wiley Publishing, publisher of the For Dummies books, for content. Yahoo also said that it has an editorial team that will produce its own content for the site.
