Camarillo-based ZPower, a venture backed developer of silver-zinc battery technology, said today that it has qualified its automated assembly line for rechargeable microbatteries. According to ZPower, the new manufacturing line will have annual production capacity of one million batteries. ZPower said it is supplying manufacturer of miniature electronic devices, like hearing aids, cochlear implants, and computer watches with its technology. ZPower--which has been fairly quiet about its products in recent years--is developing batteries to replace zinc-airand nickel metal-hydride battery technology. ZPower is backed by Intel Capital, OnPoint Technologies, and PowerVentures.
