Zumbox Partners With Marketing Firm, Names CEO

Westlake Village-based Zumbox, which is developing a system which allows organizations to send mail electronically, based on postal addresses, announced this morning that it has partnered withh a marketing services firm, and appointed that firm's Chairman and CEO as its own CEO. Zumbox, which was founded by Maury Friedman, said that Donn Rappaport, Chairman and CEO of marketing services firm ALC, will serve as the firm's CEO, while remaining Chairman of ALC. Details of the partnership with ALC were not announced. Zumbox said it will roll out its system in September. Zumbox is creating a web-based platform which allows organizations and individuals to send financial statements, direct mail, and other correspondence to a digital mail box representing every household and business address in the country. The service requires that people living at those addresses actually sign up for the service; it is charging marketers and advertisers to use the service to send their own mail.
