Broadcom Sells Brocade's Data Center Business To Extreme

Irvine-based Broadcom is selling the data center switching, routing, and analytics business from Brocade Communications Systems, to Extreme Networks, as a part of Broadcom's $5.9 billion acquisition of Brocade. Extreme Networks said this morning that it will pay $55M in cash, including $35M at close and $20M in deferred payments, plus earnout, for the Brocade unit. Broadcom has been working through regulatory approval for its acquisition, which was announced in November of 2016. Extreme said the transaction is contingent on the closing of the acquisition of Brocade Communications Systems by Broadcom.
