ChargePoint Opens First DC Fast Chargers On I-5

Electric vehicle network operator ChargePoint has opened up the first groups of DC fast chargers it is establishing along the Interstate 5, in an effort being run by ChargePoint, Chevron U.S.a., and the California Energy Commission. According to ChargePoint, the first charging location--at the Chevron station in Coalinga--is the first of a number of fast charging stations along the I-5, which are aimed at helping enable more electric vehicle charging up and down the busy freeway. According to ChargePoint, the Coalinga location has one of the only universal fast charging sites within 100 miles. The California Energy Commission has been looking to encourage charging station providers to help fill in the gaps up and down the I-5 for electric vehicle travel.
