Cred Launches Micro-Investing App For Cryptocurrency

Santa Monica-based Cred, a new startup which is being incubated and advised by Mike Jones and Science Inc., said this morning that it has launched a new mobile app to help consumer invest and learn about cryptocurrency. The startup, led by Brendon McQueen, says its mobile app let users invest in cryptocurrency like Bitcoin, Ethereum, and others for as little as $10--and even lets users purchase cryptocurrency with the change they have from their everyday purchases. Cred says it provides information about cryptocurrency, helps users track investment progress, learn about different kinds of "coins" before investing, provides daily market recaps and news, and much more. The "micro-investing" part of the app rounds everyday purchases--for example, rounding up a $3.55 iced coffee purchase to $4.00 and banking the $.45 cents in change, and saving that up until a minimum of $10 which is then invested in a users' favorite cryptocurrency. Cred says it will initially be offering up its service in California, Missouri, Massachusetts and Montana with more states being introduced in the coming months. The app is available both on the Apple App store, as well as Google Play. McQueen previously founded Tuition.io. The company says it was incubated with mentorship from Mike Jones and Science Inc., the Los Angeles-based startup studio.
