Flutterwave Finds $170M

Los Angeles-based payment technology developer Flultterwave, which helps companies manage cross border payments in Africa, has raised $170M in a Series C funding round, according to the compny. The funding was led by Avenir Growth Capital and Tiger Global Management, along with other un-named investors. Flutterwave said it is now valued at more than $1 billion. The company, led by Olugbenga Agboola, says it provides international payment processing in 150 currencies and multiple payment modes including local and international cards, mobile wallets, bank transfers, with reach in over 33 African countries, including Nigeria, Uganda, Kenya, and South Africa. The company has now raised a total of $225M.
