Bird Picks Up $15M For Electric Vehicle Sharing

Santa Monica-based Bird, a new startup focused on "last-mile" electric vehicle sharing, has raised $15M in a Series A funding, according to the company. The funding was led by Craft Ventures, the newly formed venture capital fund founded by David Sacks and Bill Lee. According to Bird, it is offering up low cost, "last-mile" electric vehicle transportation from a subway or bus to their destination. The company said that it launched in September in Santa Monica, and that it already has logged more than 250,000 rides. David Sacks has joined Bird's board of directors with the funding, as has Justin Kan (Twitch) and Dan Friedland (Goldcrest Capital). Bird offers up electric powered scooters.
