SpaceX Sets Hispasat Launch For Tuesday Morning

Hawthorne-based SpaceX said today that it is now targeting launch of the Hispasat 30W-6 satellite for tonight, at 12:33 a.m. EST, from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida. SpaceX--which had originally planned to launch the satellite payload in February--said the satellite will be the largest, geostationary satellite the company has ever flown. The Hispasat satellite is currently at Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40), with a two-hour launch window that opens at 12:33 a.m. EST, or 5:33 UTC. SpaceX said it has a backup launch window opening on Wednesday, if needed. SpaceX said it will not attempt to land the Falcon 9's first stage, due to unfavorable weather conditions in the recovery area off of Florida's coast.
