Genies Gets Investment From Disney's Iger

Los Angeles-based NFT avatar company Genies has scored an investment from former Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger, Iger said on Monday. According to Iger, he has joined the board of Genies as part of the move. Financial details of the investment were not announced. Genies develops "avatar" software for the metaverse, which allows celebrities and other people to add accessories, clothing, and other embellishments to those avatars via non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The company previously raised funding from Bond Capital, NEA, Breyer Capital, Tull Investment Group, NetEase, Dapper Labs and Coinbase Ventures.
