LiveEdu (aka Education Ecosystem), a new startup in the blockchain area which wants to enable the live streaming of educational content, said it has raised $10M in crowdfunding, and set up its headquarters in Los Angeles. According to the company, it will start offering up content on programming, game development, data science, crytocurrency, artificial intelligence, and other topics through a monthly subscription later this year. Education Ecosystem's CEO is Dr. Michael J. Garbade. The company pointed at the diversity in Los Angeles, the area's reputation as a growing tech hub, and the availability of graduates from California Institute of Technology, UCLA and USC as reason for locating in Los Angeles. The company said it will be powering its services using a new "education token", which can be used to pay for subscriptions. Garbade is the founder of another startup, Kyuda, and says he also has worked at Amazon, GE, Lashou, Photobucket, and Rebate Networks.
