Luna DNA Gets $4M For Genomic, Medical Database

San Diego-based LunaDNA, which is developing a "community owned" platform for genomic and medical research information, said on Tuesday that it has raised $4M in a funding round. The funding came from Illumina Ventures and Arch Venture Partners, and also included Bridgelink Capital, Hemisphere Ventures, and Dr. Aristides Patrinos, who was head of the Human Genome Project. According to LunaDNA, the company is developing a "community owned" platform which lets people share their genomic and health information, and gain shares of ownership in exchange for their DNA and medical records.
