Sonos Files For IPO
Santa Barbara-based Sonos has filed for a confidential IPO, according to a report on Wednesday, which says that Sonos is hoping to go public as soon as June. The report, from the Wall Street Journal, says the IPO will value Sonos at between $2.5 billion and $3.0 billion. Sonos has received backing from such investors as BV Capital, Elevation Partners, Index Ventures, Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co., and Redpoint Ventures. JMI Equity Backs CampusLogic In $55M Funding
JMI Equity, the private equity firm which has one of its main offices in La Jolla, is the lead investor in a round for Phoenix, Arizona-based CampusLogic. CampusLogic, which develops software tools to help streamline the management of student financial aid for schools, said Wednesday morning that it had raised $55M in a funding round from JMI Equity. CampusLogic said it will use the new investment for product development, customer success, and sales and marketing.

NEXT Trucking, Backed By $21M From Sequoia Capital, Plans Big Hiring Push
Lynwood, California-based NEXT Trucking, which operates an online marketplace which connects carriers to shippers, says it is planning a big hiring push in Southern California, after a big $21M funding round from Sequoia Capital. The startup, led by CEO and Co-founder Lidia Yan, says it plans to double its workforce in Southern California, with a plan to hire more than 50 engineering, sales, operations, and marketing roles this year. TaskUs Names Chief Customer Officer
Los Angeles-based TaskUs, which provides outsourced customer support and other back-end support for technology companies, said today that it has named Jarrod Johnson as Chief Customer Officer. Johnson was previously SVP of Sales at TaskUs, and will be based in the company's Dallas offices. Johnson also had served at ACS and IBM. TaskUs--which has a very significant employee base in the Philippines--also has an on-shore facility in Austin, Texas.

Jam City's Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery Launches On iOS, Android
The highly anticipated, Harry Potter-themed videogame from Los Angeles-based Jam City--Harry Potter: Hogwarts Mystery--officially launched today, and is now on Apple's App Store and Google Play. Origin Code Academy Rolls Out Free Programming Intro Course Online
San Diego-based "code school" Origin Code Academy said this morning that it has rolled out a new, online-only, free course on programming and the basics of writing code. According to the boot camp operator, the free course is aimed at anyone interested in preparing to attend its program, or anyone interested in the basics of coding--to determine if coding is something for them or not. Taoglas Names New VP Of Engineering
San Diego-based Taoglas, which develops antennas for the telematics, automotive and other markets, has named Jeff Shamblin as its new VP of Engineering. Shamblin was previously at Ethertronics, where he had served in such roles as CTO and Chief Scientist. Shamblin had spent 12 years at Ethertronics, but also previously had been at SCS Corp, Claridy Solutions, Lockheed Martin, and Northrop.

RealD Extends Deal With Cinemark Until 2022
Beverly Hills-based 3D movie projection technology provider RealD said today with theater exhibitor Cinemark Holdings, that the two have renewed Cinemark's 3D agreement with RealD through 2022. Financial details of the deal were not announced by the two firms, which jointly announced the extension today. The companies said that Cinemark will also be installing RealD 3D systems in all of its new-build theaters during the term.
