Tuesday, May 29, 2018GoGuardian Acquired by Sumeru Equity PartnersLos Angeles-based GoGuardian, a startup which develops Chromebook management software for schools, disclosed last week that it has raised a majority round of private equity from Sumeru Equity Partners. Size of the investment were not announced. GoGuardian is led by founder and CEO Advait Shinde. The company said that George Kadifa, Sanjeet Mitra and Sean Kendra--all of Sumeru Equity Partners--have joined the company's board with the majority investment.

Guardian Circle Adds Peter Diamandis As AdvisorMarina Del Rey-based startup Guardian Circle, the developer of a social-based system and app that helps people summon help from their friends, said last week that it has added futurist Peter Diamandis as an advisor as part of a "token sale" the company is running. Esri Adds New Satellite Imaging From Sentinel-2 SatelliteRedland-based geographical information systems (GIS) provider Esri said on Monday morning that it is extending its suite of satellite images for its service, adding Sentinel-2 Earth Observation Satellite images, for any location in the world. Those images--from the European Space Agency's Sentinel-2 satellite--is at a 10 meter resolution, and updates every 5 to 7 days. Moleaer Finds $6M For Nanobubble TechnologyLos Angeles-based Moleaer, a manufacturer of industrial "nanobubble generators" used for water and wastewater treatment, agriculture irrigation, and oil-water separation, announced this morning that it has raised $6M in a funding round. The funding was led by Energy Innovation Capital (EIC). According to Moleaer, its products increase gas transfer rates and improve solids separation from water, wastewater and produced water. Surkus Raises $10MLos Angeles-based Surkus, a developer of a platform to help connect people with local events, has raised $10M in a Series B funding, according to the comapny. The funding was led by Capital Union investments and EOS Global. According to Surkus, the investment in the company is the first for EOS Global, a $200M venture fund focused on the blockchain. Surkus is led by CEO Stephen George, who the company said started his career at Groupon, and headed operations through its IPO in 2011.

ISSQUARED Acquires Starnet Data DesignNewbury Park-based ISSQUARED, an information technology provider, said this morning that it has acquired Westlake Village-based Starnet Data Design. Financial details of the buy were not disclosed. BOth companies provide information technology consulting, including consulting in the areas of networking, security, hardware, and other related areas for enterprise to SMB customers. SpaceX Queues Up Satellite Launch At Canaveral For June 1stHawthorne-based SpaceX said over the weekend that its next launch, the SES-12 mission, is being targeted for June 1st, from Pad 40 at Cape Canveral. SES-12 is a communications satellite aimed at providing communications to the Middle East and Asia Pacific, and will be launched into geostationary transfer orbit (GTO). According to Kennedy Space Center, the rocket being used in the SES-12 launch is a "flight-proven" first stage, used in a prior launch. SpaceX said it is "closely watching" weather (More info...)
