IKEA Starts Selling Sonos Speakers
IKEA has started selling a new line of speakers it devleoped in conjunction with Santa Barbara-based Sonos this week, including an oddly shaped, dual "speaker lamp", the SYMFONISK. According to IKEA, the new lamp is the "best sounding lamp in the world" and combines both a smart, Wi-Fi speaker and a light. IKEA also rolled out a combination speaker-and-shelf and other speaker products. Report: Amazon's Ring Collecting 911 Data
Santa Monica-based Ring, the surveillance doorbell network which is now owned by Amazon, is now looking to collect and aggregate real-time, 911 call information, according to a report from Gizmodo. According to the report, the 911 information is being pushed to nearby Ring users as "crime news". Causecast Acquired By America's Charities
Burbank-based Causecast, which developed an online platform to help employers increase employee engagement with charitable causes, has been acquired by America's Charities, a nonprofit focused on getting employees to support causes they care about. Financial terms of the acquisition were not announced. Causecast was founded and led by CEO Ryan Scott. DTS Powers New ASUS ROG II Phone
Calabasas-based DTS is powering the new immersive audio experience for the ASus Republic of Gamers (ROG) gaming phone, according to DTS. DTS--which is now part of Xperi Corporation--said that its DTS:X Ultra audio technology is being incorporated into the new ROG Phone II, the newest product from ASUS Republic of Gamers.
